- Following the initial publicity of a mentoring program information sessions should be held for all interested employees. Involvement or attendance of senior management in these sessions is
important;
- The purpose of the sessions should be to: (ODEOPE)
- Outline the aims and benefits of the program;
- Include information about the duration of the program and the training and support to be given;
- Explain the roles and responsibilities of the mentee, mentor, coordinator and or facilitator;
- Explain how mentoring fits in with the value of the organisation, in particular that it is learning and development tool and does not conflict with the merit principle;
and
- Describe how the program will fit in within the supervision/management of employees and the broader learning and development and performance management programs in place.
