Quote
"Tomorrow's leaders cannot be created by having them mimic the
competencies of yesterday's managers … Real leadership development
involves nurturing the unique potential of each individual, having them be
as much themselves as they are capable of being."

Australian Women In Leadership Census 2003: Launch Date,
Sponsorship & AICD Lunch
EOWA's Australian Women in Leadership Census measures both the
status of women on boards and women corporate officers and top earners in Australia's top organisations. The huge amount of media attention
that followed the release of last year's Census results showed just how
hot a topic this is. There is a similar amount of interest overseas, with
coverage of the issues in the June edition of the
Harvard Business Review.
The proposed launch date for this year's highly anticipated Australian
Census results is Tuesday 30 September.
EOWA is proud to announce that ANZ and Esanda will be the Platinum sponsors
and that Macquarie University will be the Gold sponsor this year.
In association with this event, the Australian Institute of Company Directors
(AICD) will be hosting a Census luncheon on 2 October 2003.

Australian Sports
Commission Conference: Sport Needs More Women - An Inspiring Event
The Australian Sports Commission Conference - Sport Needs More Women,
held in May, inspired the sports industry to embrace the benefits that women's
leadership brings to the industry. The forum provided an excellent opportunity
to show how much we can learn from these women, and hence the importance
of developing initiatives to ensure gender equity in sport
continues to improve and the value of women in sport is not
undermined.

Noteworthy Initiative:
The Diversity Board Game
The Diversity Board Game is a unique and entertaining
way of sensitising, educating and challenging employees about how
best to manage diversity in the workplace.
Designed for team play, its questions present typical diversity scenarios that arise in the
Australian workplace, challenging players to explore their knowledge
and have fun doing it. The game is endorsed by the National Diversity
Think Tank.
