Welcome to the third 2006 edition of EOWA's News Alert. This edition focuses on the 2006 EOWA Australian Census of Women in Leadership, which was released on 31 August. Sponsored by ANZ and Macquarie University and produced in partnership with research organisation, Catalyst, the EOWA Census is a study of women board directors and executive managers in the top 200 companies on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Across the ASX200:
Women hold 12.0% of Executive Management positions and 8.7% of Board Directorships.
39.5% of companies have no women executive managers and 50.0% have no women directors.
The number of female CEOs has not increased since 2003, with only 6 companies led by women.

Top Performing Companies

The 2006 Census also includes the Top Performing Companies List, which features the five ASX200 companies with both 25% or more Board Directors and 25% or more women Executive Managers: David Jones, Great Southern Plantations, Just Group, Telecom Corporation of New Zealand and Ventracor.

   Regulatory Reform
 

In response to the Report of the Taskforce on Reducing Regulatory Burden on Business, the Government has announced that reporting to EOWA will become biennial for most employers in the future. The Agency will communicate with all reporting organisations about any transition arrangements and how the change may affect your reporting responsibility.
