EOWA Business Case for Pay Equity
Pay equity makes good business sense for several reasons. The primary one is that it is a legal obligation to provide equal remuneration for work of equal value. Paying your male and female employees differently could put your organisation at risk of a potentially-damaging and expensive discrimination complaint that could land you in court. Equally important for your business is the ability to retain the best and brightest of your employees, and to attract the widest possible talent pool during your recruitment process. The motivation of your entire workforce can suffer if some staff are seen to be remunerated unfairly, and if the opportunities to advance into the highest paying positions are not there equally for everyone. Finally, a just, transparent and merit-based remuneration system is one of the best ways to ensure that your organisation’s employment policies and practices contribute to the long-term success and sustainability of the business. This argument also extends to the business case for equal opportunity (EO). Click here to view the Business Case for EO. |
