A task group can help your organisation to:
  • Identify issues
  • Develop strategies
  • Report on the progress of the workplace program.

Task groups may already be used for workplace consultation about other workplace issues:

  • OH&S task group
  • Management meetings
  • Staff meetings etc
  • Continuous improvement groups

Task group composition

It is important to ensure that people from all levels and areas of the workplace are represented on the task group. The group could include:

  • Senior management
  • Management
  • Union delegates
  • Staff
  • and people working in sections such as:
    • Administration
    • Outdoors
    • Workshop
    • Shopfloor

The group should also represent the diversity within the workplace in terms of gender and culture.

Benefits of Task Groups

  • More people are represented and a greater diversity of ideas is possible;
  • Ownership of the program is given to a group of people.

It is important to ensure that the task group members have attended training and understand the meaning of equal opportunity for women in the workplace.
