Issues to consider:

• Who will be surveyed? 
  • all staff in the organisation?
  • a representative sample of the organisation?
  • a particular area of the organisation?
• Make the survey confidential and anonymous to encourage honest responses
• Obtain a statement of support from the CEO
• To ensure a high response rate talk to staff about the survey
  • how it will be used in the organisation
  • how the results will be followed up
  • how anonymity will be maintained
• Analyse the responses to the survey as soon as possible
• Determine which issues are the priority issues that you will address
• Provide feedback to staff and follow up survey responses with action

The survey can help you identify issues and therefore provide some starting points for the development of your program’s goals, objectives and strategies.

If your organisation is predominantly male, your survey results may indicate that only a small percentage of staff have issues of concern. Further consultation with your female staff will be required to determine whether there are issues of concern to women. One-to-one interviews with female staff may assist in clarifying these concerns.
